Terms of Service
Last updated: June 16, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Subtext ("the app", "we", "us", "our"), a rehearsal tool for actors. By downloading, installing, or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
The app
Subtext helps you rehearse scenes by importing scripts, analyzing characters and dialogue, and voicing your scene partners' lines so you can practice your own. The app is provided for your personal, non‑commercial rehearsal use. There is no account to create — you can use the app without giving us your name or email.
Eligibility
Subtext is intended for a general audience of working and aspiring actors and is not directed to children under 13. By using the app you confirm that you are at least 13 years old and able to enter into these Terms.
Your content and responsibilities
- You own your scripts. Scripts and other material you import remain yours. By importing them you confirm you have the right to use them and to have them processed by the app's service providers solely to deliver the app's features.
- Respect others' rights. Do not import or use material you are not permitted to use. You are responsible for ensuring your use of any copyrighted scripts complies with applicable law and any licenses that govern them.
- Acceptable use. Do not misuse the app — including attempting to disrupt or overload the service, reverse‑engineer it, circumvent rate limits or security, or use it for any unlawful purpose.
Subscriptions and payment
Some features require a paid subscription. Purchases and renewals are handled entirely by Apple through your Apple ID — we never see or process your payment details. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID settings. Payments, refunds, and billing are subject to the Apple Standard EULA and the App Store's terms.
AI‑generated content
The app uses AI to analyze scripts and to synthesize scene‑partner voices. AI output can be inaccurate or imperfect — character detection, scene breaks, and voicing are provided as rehearsal aids and should not be relied on as authoritative. You are responsible for reviewing the script and your own performance.
Privacy
Your use of the app is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what data the app handles and who processes it on our behalf.
Intellectual property
The app, its design, and its underlying software are owned by us and our licensors and are protected by intellectual‑property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to our trademarks, logos, or software except the limited right to use the app as intended.
Disclaimer of warranties
The app is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non‑infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error‑free, or that any AI output will be accurate.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising out of or relating to your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app will not exceed the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim.
Termination
You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or discontinue the app, or any feature, at any time. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — will continue to apply.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the app after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
